Nintendo was a Failure...
One famous business that failed at first is the video game company, Nintendo. Despite being one of the most popular and profitable video game companies today, Nintendo struggled to make a name for itself when it first entered the market.
In the 1970s, Nintendo began as a playing card company in Japan. It later expanded into arcade games, and eventually home gaming consoles. However, their first few attempts at home consoles, such as the Color TV-Game and the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), failed to gain significant traction in the market.
Their fortunes began to change in the late 1980s with the release of the Game Boy, a handheld console that proved to be a huge success. This was followed by the release of the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), which cemented Nintendo's place as a major player in the video game industry.
Today, Nintendo is known for its popular franchises such as Super Mario (with a new movie just released last month about the main character), The Legend of Zelda, and Pokemon.
My kids still love Pokemon even after all this time!
The company continues to innovate with new gaming systems and experiences, and remains a household name in the world of video games.
The story of Nintendo is a reminder that even the most successful businesses can experience setbacks and failures. However, with perseverance, a willingness to innovate it's possible to turn things around and achieve great success.
Small Business owners your success may be right around the corner!
